Slow Train To China? Hardly...

This article from CNN about China’s incredible high speed train network. is a rude awakening for anyone who still thinks China is not on its way to becoming the world’s preeminent global power, and in VERY fast order, too.

Where are America’s trains?  They might as well still be burning coal... yup, China has already eaten America’s lunch and it’s going after its dinner, too.

  1. Human rights. Can China really be respected on the world stage with its appalling human rights record? Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Tibet, internal "opposition" groups like Falun Gong, Tiananmen Square...

    1. i am wondering, why should humans have rights? ... is being born such an achievement that it automatically confers rights? ... it is a pleasant fiction, i like where it comes from but in the end, is it not a fiction?

    2. Well yeah, human rights is a relatively modern concept. But we're living in modern times, and not having them is completely regressive. You can't call yourself a civilised nation and not respect human rights. The origins of the concept date back to the French Revolution, or the teachings of Jesus...

    3. i prefer stalin's saying. Ideas are more dangerous than guns. We don't let our enemy have guns, why should we let them have ideas.

    4. Heil akoc! Lol. Maybe they weren't even your enemies until you forced them? Again, Bernie would not be proud of you Lol... Stalin = regressive, the past.

    5. =)

well, you have to appreciate the logical clarity of Stalin's thinking... maybe Bernie would like it too...

more seriously, yes... those are dark forces but in bad times, they are the ones that keep us alive... it is not coincidence that most armies are founded on these principles.

to answer the implied question of why Bernie and Trump, well they both are trying to fix the system.... at least they acknowledge something is wrong... right now, the greatest devil are those that say nothing is wrong... head in sand (in Hell's words)...

    6. enemy wise, is not everyone the enemy?... i remember you saying that america has no friends. =)

    7. :) "...no friends, only interests." Sure, the US has also created many "made-up enemies". And yes, the system that Bernie opposes would be neoliberalism (the statu quo). Trump, not so much. Or, his vision would be more akin to "non-democratic neoliberalism". So not a good substitute either.

    9. btw... have you noticed that no Muslim country says anything bad about China?

in contrast, most Muslim countries think the U.S. is the devil.

maybe there is something to learn from China's approach. =)

    10. i am joking... but then and again not really.

it is good to have high ideals... but they also need to work in the real world.

with enough money, you can make anything appear to work... but now the U.S. is running out of money...

  2. to Hell... if the U.S. will tell the truth to itself, it will make it... the strength yet flows in the country...

the politicians only offer candies because they think everyone is like themselves and cares only for candies but that is a lie that they tell themselves.

offer blood, tears and sweat. I promise you an electoral whirlwind, the giant is not dead, it only sleeps...

    1. In 2006 a 30 year fixed mortgage was around 7-7.5%... today it is at 2.5%. Of course, most mortgages are now variable rate which means today’s rate is even lower. In Denmark mortgage rates are even negative....

      Crazy stuff...

    2. No, actually it isn’t.... it’s a very dubious) asset class for as long as it isn’t accepted widely for payments.
