Just A Quote

"Democracy destroys itself because it abuses its right to freedom and equality. Because it teaches its citizens to consider audacity as a right, lawlessness as a freedom, abrasive speech as equality, and anarchy as progress."

Isocrates, an Athenian orator ( 436–338 BC)

I dedicate this quote to all EU leaders:  Wake up ladies and gentlemen, they smoked you out THOUSANDS of years ago.  You can't keep on abusing "democracy", hidden behind the smokescreen of popular opinion...

  1. quote seems rather nonsensical, or at least not to the point. democracy cannot destroy itself, only the people involved in an instituion can destroy it, and since the bent of humanity is to destroy/subvert any institution that takes the edge off greed and power-seeking in order that some individuals gain preeminence what are we left with? i have long doubted that any system which can be mishandled by both the mass of the populace and the select few has any relevance for us as a people. open to suggestions....

  5. In my opinion, democracy is only bad when the people is in full control, disregarding laws and reaches the point where people who are supposed to be implementing the laws cannot control the masses and leads to anarchy. In democracy there should be an equal, mutual trust between the masses and their chosen leader whose main role is to lead them to development. Just my two cents.

  7. Hi,

    How are you?

I work at Mindful Money.co.uk , the award wining (Best Commercial Innovation) leading social news and knowledge network in the investment space.

We have recently set up an innovative new initiative called the MM Blog Ad-Network which includes some of the leading UK bloggers and I would like invite you to join the network.

    MINDFULMONEY’s BLOG AD-NETWORK (http://www.mindfulmoney.co.uk/12937/what-is-mindfulmoney/mmblogad-network.html)

The aim of the initiative is to make blogging a financially rewarding career option for you and for the next generation of UK based financial bloggers.

    Why are we doing this?

Everyone knows that the future of the media lies in the hands of the many, but at present the rewards still go only to the few, big media titles.

So while there may be many opportunities to make your voice heard, it’s still really difficult to make a decent living out of it.

That has to change and we are spearheading a game-changing move to use the media clout that Mindful Money has (we’re not huge but were independent and we’re financially viable) to create a UK media network comprised of the long tail of the leading voices in the blogosphere so that the many may reap rewards that they deserve.

    Our proposal to you

We’ve leveraged our relationships with our existing advertisers to offer a select number of high quality blogs the opportunity to receive high quality ads with the very best click through rates.

    How this benefits you

When you join our ad-network you will be able to run ads on your blog from the likes of:
    • British Airways

    • Lloyds TSB

    • Schroders

    • Brewin Dolphin

    • Jaguar

Many of these would normally only be available to the mainstream.

    Revenue sharing
So far we have achieved CPM rates of £18 rather than the 20p CPM that many Google Ad words offer.

    Continuing the conversation

If you’d like to know more about the proposal and how to get involved then please email me at marco@socialbusinessgroup.com

    Thank you!
